Northkey Guest Speakers

Kayla Nickum and Brooke Oldfield, prevention specialists from NorthKey Community Care, visited Newport School of Innovation on five occasions to provide students with suicide prevention and anti-bullying presentations. During each visit, Kayla shared valuable information about recognizing warning signs, seeking help, and supporting one another in times of need. Brooke provided valuable insight into suicide prevention.

They created a safe and welcoming environment where students felt comfortable engaging in meaningful conversations. Brooke and Kayla encouraged open dialogue by asking questions and leading thoughtful discussions. Their interactive approach helped students better understand the importance of kindness, empathy, and mental health awareness. To further motivate participation, gift cards were awarded students who contributed to discussions.

Their visits made a positive impact on the school community by promoting awareness, support, and open communication.
